Tucked away in a secret spot among the mangroves, Blue Palawan Beach Club is a 3.5 stars beachfront, one of the few with white sand in the city of Puerto Princesa. Here, you will be able to live the perfect beach life, relax and enjoy the beautiful sunrise. There are only a handful of beachfront properties in Puerto Princesa and most of them are quite expensive. Fortunately, Blue Palawan Beach Club belongs to the mid-range category and so it can be a great option for those who have the money but still not keen on splurging too much.

The resort is 15 minutes away from the airport and only 5 minutes away from the city center. Upon arrival, you will be ushered to the reception desk which is open 24 hours and given a refreshing welcome drink. The Blue Palawan experience is focused on 2 things that make your vacation perfect – thoughtfulness and balance. This means that from the smallest details to the bigger ones, the resort is designed to give you comfort and convenience.

That said, the downside of the beach is that it is not ideal for swimming. It is more of a bay connected to a mangrove area, so be prepared to spend most of your time on the beach itself without entering the waters too much. Still, Blue Palawan offers a unique experience to people who want to be close to the sea, and engage in watersport activities.

Our Expert Review

Service [?]

The staffs are well-trained and professional. They always smile and are very accommodating to their guests but service can be a bit slow and disorganized at times. That said, we did notice some complaints from local guests who said staff members were rude to them.

Very good

Cleanliness [?]

The grounds are cleaned on a daily basis. The swimming pool is maintained regularly and daily housekeeping is observed. The beach area is clean as well.

Rooms [?]

The rooms are extremely spacious and equipped with modern amenities. The simple yet elegant fixtures are perfectly blended together. The beds are mostly king-sized and very comfortable. Toiletries are also provided along with high-quality towels and hair dryer.

Beach and Pool [?]

The beach area is clean and it is really white sand however it is not a real beach. It is actually a bay with mangroves so it is susceptible to really low tides. It is good for kayaking or kiteboarding, but not so much for swimming and snorkeling. The swimming pool is relatively small compared to most beachfront properties, but the water is cool and clean.

Location [?]

Blue Palawan is located in a quiet side of the city with close proximity to the airport and the city center. There are always local transports available outside the resort for your convenience.

Value for Money [?]

The resort is overpriced considering that it doesn’t offer complete amenities and the beach is not really a beach. Just like Princesa Garden, the advertising on the beach area is quite misleading. Although the rooms are really classy and modern, the price is a bit too much for a 3.5 rating.

Blue Palawan is perfect for couples and families who have a little bit of money to spare but not really looking to spend extravagantly. Honeymooners will definitely enjoy the modern and romantic ambiance of the rooms while families and groups can take advantage of the generous space provided.

It is also ideal for water sports fanatics as the waters are perfect for kiteboarding, kayaking, wakeboarding, surfing, scuba diving and paddle boarding. You can enjoy complimentary use of non-motorized water equipment like kayaks and paddle boards. If you are interested to learn and do some kiteboarding, the resort offers lessons for beginners and the shallow waters provide for safe water sports activities.

The resort offers free shuttle to and from the airport. There is also complimentary breakfast which serves a generous array of western and local cuisines served buffet-style. However, there are not enough options for vegetarians. The infinity pool is open and breezy but it can get really hot during the day. The in-house restaurant serves different variety of dishes to satisfy your culinary cravings and it is important to note that the portions are really generous which is highly commendable. Other services include: laundry and dry cleaning, on-call massage, gift shop, free parking and free Wi-Fi which is surprisingly strong in most days. There is also a bar and a lounge that serves good cocktails and different wines and beers.

Do Guests Like Blue Palawan?

Blue Palawan Beach club is popular mostly with foreigners as it is the place for annual water sports events and most participants are from other countries. Local visitors are a minority as Filipinos do not generally engage in extreme water sports activities like kiteboarding. Online reviews are not a lot but mostly positive. However, we noticed that negative reviews are mostly from the locals who are probably put off by the price.

With Tripadvisor, the score is 4.0 with 214 reviews. gives an average of 8.1 with 489 reviews. Finally with, the total score is 8 with 162 reviews.

Guests love the spacious rooms and the beachfront. All huts are right next to the beach, so all guests can enjoy sea views from their rooms. The breakfast and with its big portions are often complimented. The pool was also mentioned multiple times. The service is good and their water sports are exciting.

However, many guests were not happy with the beach because it is not at all ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Scuba diving is possible though, as there is a reef accessible by boat from the property. The price per night is also quite steep considering that it is only a 3.5 star property. It is more expensive than Dos Palmas and Dos Palmas is a private island resort with its own beach and everything.

So what do guests love about Blue Palawan?

  • Good service and excellent food
  • Good location close to everything
  • Beautiful beach and mangroves
  • Elegant, spacious and modern rooms

Some negative aspects to keep in mind:

  • More expensive than similarly rated resorts
  • Beach is not really good for swimming and snorkeling
  • Loud noise from the neighbors early morning
  • Local guests complain about staff being rude

  • Blue Palawan is ideal for couples and groups who enjoy water sports activities. Beachfront properties are rare in Puerto Princesa but the beach is not really a beach for swimming, just a bay connected to the mangrove area. The most expensive room in this property is a suite which is perfect for couples and honeymooners but if you want to splurge we recommend Dos Palmas or Princesa Garden, where you can get more for your money. If you are looking forward to a beach for swimming, look for hotels in Sabang instead, such as Daluyon and Sheridan for example.

Overall, Blue Palawan is a very good resort with a nice location. If you are willing to spend and prefers kayaking and water sports instead of just beach bumming, then this place is perfect for you.
